WHAT IS AN ESTATE?
An Estate is all of your property, in other words everything you own.
Before you die you can distribute what you want from your estate but please be careful about the tax consequences.
When you die, some of your estate will pass automatically to other co-owners or beneficiaries whether or not you have a Will.
However on death, the remainder of your estate, that does not pass automatically, needs to be processed through the Will. If there is no will, the remainder of your estate must be distributed according to the laws of Intestacy.
