SIGNED, PUBLISHED, AND DECLARED

Your Will needs to be signed properly in a lawyer's office or at your home under a lawyer's guidance and supervision. Too much can go wrong if you sign the document yourself.
One of my law school professors taught us to memorize the following and make sure that we complied with it explicitly every time we supervised and witnessed the execution of a will:
  1. Signed by the said Testator
  2. as and for her/his last Will and Testament
  3. in the presence of us
  4. both present at the same time
  5. who at her/his request
  6. in her/his presence
  7. and in the presence of each other
  8. have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
