  1. You want to specify which of your family members, friends, or professional associates should be your Executor and Trustee, the person(s) who make decisions and sign papers after you have died.
  2. You want to specify who should get custody of your children.
  3. You want your grandchildren to take the share of one of your children who predeceases you.
  4. You want to give broad powers to your Executor and Trustee to exercise a careful discretion.
